Rosemarie Zimmerman, 69, of Pottsville, formerly of Minersville, died on Saturday, May 11, at Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born on February 17, 1955 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Lloyd Halye Zimmerman. She was a 1973 graduate of Minersville Area High School. She was employed by the former City Shirt Company before becoming disabled.

Rosemarie was preceded in death by five siblings, Todd Zimmerman, Donald Zimmerman, David Zimmerman, William Zimmerman and Gale Fiorini.

Surviving are five siblings, Margaret Ann Kemble (spouse, Larry), Tower City, Thomas Halye (spouse, Mary Jo), Cass Township, Richard Zimmerman Jr., Pine Grove, Cynthia DeWolff, Las Vegas, Nev., Randy Zimmerman (spouse, Karen), Harrisburg, and Kevin Zimmerman (spouse, Rose), Girardville; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are private. Dutcavich Funeral Home has charge.

Patricia A. Benitez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, 63 years of age, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at home.

Born Monday, November 7, 1960 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Marvin, and Laudlan (Garber) Collins. Patricia was also predeceased by; brothers, James E. Zollers V, John L. Collins.

Surviving are; husband of 32 years, Obed Benitez; daughters, Angela N. Lubold wife of Darryl, Anita L. Collins, Marlene N. Benitez and Brianna Fogel; sons, David N. Benitez, Brandon M. Collins and his wife Amanda, John J. Benitez, sisters, Janet L. Bankes, Marlene Shaver; 23 grandchildren who affectionately called her nanny. Many nieces and nephews also survive Patricia.

Patricia was a member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, and had worked as aide for many years. She served honorably in the Army National Guard. Patricia was an excellent cook, and took great pride in being a devoted wife, mother, and loving grandmother.

A Funeral service will be held on Monday May 20, 2024 at 11 o'clock A.M. from the funeral home. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Deacon Juan Marrero to officiate.

Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua Pennsylvania.

John Rupinski, 57, of Aristes passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born on September 4, 1966, in the Shamokin Hospital, a son of John and Phyllis Frye Rupinski.

John was a graduate of North Schuylkill High School Class of 1985.

He worked construction for the Laborers Local Union #158, Linglestown, and formerly served as union steward until his illness.

John was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and trap. He enjoyed watching Penn State football, the Phillies, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father John Rupinski, in 2015 .

In addition to his mother Phyllis, John is survived by two daughters, Carisa and Dana Rupinski; son, John Rupinski, Jr; companion Dionne Wolfgang, former wife Michelle Jordan; sister, Christine and husband Dave Heyer; brother Michael and wife Candida Rupinski; Grandchildren Jax , Nyla,and Valdir Jr.; several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo R.C. Church, 1115 Walnut Street Ashland, on Wednesday May 22, 2024, at 11am with Father Giuseppe Esposito, Celebrant. A visitation will be held from 10am until time of mass at the church.

Burial will be private at the Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Aristes.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Samuel Lazarchick, 78, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in Bethlehem, with his loving family at his bedside. He was the husband of Rochelle (Nelson) Lazarchick with whom he celebrated 34 years of marriage.

Born in Pottsville, Sam was the son of the late Samuel and Alice (Bagdonas) Lazarchick. A 1963 graduate of Marian High school, he was the owner of Lazarchick Sales and S&S Promotions. Sam was very devoted to his family, especially his wife, daughters, and grandsons. A man who was loved by all, he was a faithful and devoted parishioner at St. John XXIII Catholic Church of Tamaqua where he was an usher for over 30 years. A member of the East End Fire Company, Sam was also a part of the Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club, a past president of the Tamaqua Pool League, and an active pool shooter.

He is survived by daughters, Sherri Gerber and Nicole Ferryman, both of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Samuel Fox and Spencer Gerber, both of Tamaqua; brothers, Bernard and wife Louise Lazarchick of Lehighton, and William and wife Karen Lazarchick of Tamaqua; sisters, Elizabeth Knoblauch of Florida and Ann Marie and her husband Kenneth Krapf of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam was predeceased by a stepson, Scott Ferryman; a brother, Alfred Lazarchick; and a sister, Bonnie Kotch. Mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 20, 2024, in St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua with the Rev. Robert Finlan officiating.

Interment at St. Jerome Cemetery, Lombard Street, Tamaqua will follow the Mass. Call Monday from 9:00 - 11AM in the church social hall. Memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John XXIII, or St. John XXIII, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, 18252. Joseph J. Pucklavage, 71, of Tuscarora, died on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Coaldale. He was the husband of the late Donna (Bistronish) Pucklavage with who he celebrated 35 years of marriage shortly before her death in 2019.

Born in Pottsville, Joseph was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Zelonis) Pucklavage. A 1970 graduate of Marian High School, he served as a military policeman in the United States Army during Vietnam. Before his retirement, Joseph was a correctional officer for the state prison in Frackville for 19 years. He was a member of the Tamaqua American Legion C.H. Berry Post # 173 and the Schuylkill Headwaters Association. Joseph loved trout fishing, going for long walks in the woods, and could frequently be found attending his grandchildren's activities. He was a very practical, straightforward personality who loved being outdoors and observing nature.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Amy Jedlovec and her husband Benjamin of Schnecksville; sisters, Theresa and husband Harry Strauss of New Ringold, and Diane and her husband Gerald Briggs of Hometown; a brother, David Pucklavage and his wife Sonia of Hometown; grandchildren, Juliet, Lucy, and Zellie; sisters-in-laws, Michele Bistronish of Tuscarora, and Anita and her husband Albert Vevasis of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Prayer Service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, May 21, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, 108 Lafayette Avenue, Tamaqua will follow the service. Call 9:30 to 11 AM at the funeral home.

Harry L. Detwiler, 95, of Orwigsburg, passed away Monday, May 13th, at his residence, with his son Steve at his side.

Harry was born in Norristown on September 28, 1928, a son of the late Rachel (Rubery) Detwiler and Paul L. Detwiler, Sr. Harry was raised in Pottsville, where he was a proud graduate of Pottsville High School. He went onto Ford School of Business and received his Business degree.

He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was in the Army's CIC corps, where he achieved the rank of Corporal.

After he returned home from the Army, he married the love of his life, Jean (Rarick) Detwiler. They were married for 63 years, up until her death in 2016.

As a child, Harry loved fishing and swimming in Sweet Arrow Lake, where his parents had a cottage.

He worked for the American Stores which became the ACME Markets. He was a butcher for Wilson and A & B Companies, and ran his own business for a few years until he took a job with Brulin & Company where he sold janitorial products. He then opened H .L. Detwiler Janitorial Supply, which he operated into the 2000's.

In his free time, Harry enjoyed antiquing with his wife, going to Las Vegas and teaching his sons how to fish and play golf. He played golf in several local golf leagues. He also enjoyed fishing in Canada. Harry and Jean combined their enjoyment of antiques with golfing or fishing trips along the east coast and Canada as often as they could.

He was a lifelong Mason and a member of Schuylkill Lodge #138 F & AM. He was involved with the Tall Cedars and the Shrine.

Surviving are his two sons, Scott Detwiler (wife Gail), Gilbert, AZ and Steven Detwiler, Orwigsburg, PA; a niece, Jennifer Glowatz (husband Mark) and nephew, Paul Detwiler III (wife Kathy) and his children Justin and Sarah
(husband Keith). Two grandchildren Josh & Dori. 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Paul Detwiler, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 on Monday, May 20th at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg. A Masonic service will begin at 11:00 followed by the Religious Service with Rev. Michael Petresky officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Schuylkill Lodge #138 F & AM, 1000 East Market Street, Orwigsburg, PA 17961

Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Orwigsburg.

Mrs. Anna Stanalis of Coaldale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully Monday, May 13, 2024 at age 104.

Anna lived her entire life in the Panther Valley area, the daughter of Slovak immigrants. As a young woman in Lansford, she and her siblings were avid participants in the national Sokol gymnastic group. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the Ladies Aid Society and the church’s quilting guild. She was a homemaker and exceptional cook of authentic Hungarian dishes, passing her skills on to her family. Employed as a seamstress, she specialized in fine trim work on children’s clothing. Anna enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, circumnavigating the US by road trip. She remained connected with her Hungarian and Slovakian relatives and traveled through much of Europe as well.

Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, John Bernard Stanalis, a WWII veteran of the US Army; her parents, Michael and Anna (Danek) Hudasky, and her siblings, John Hudasky, Mary (Hudasky) Hiza, Julia Hudasky, and Michael Hudasky, Jr.

Anna was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Panchura, wife of Michael Panchura of Sterling, Virginia and Susan Bydlon, wife of Frank Bydlon of Williamsburg, Virginia.

She was the loving and devoted grandmother to 3 grandchildren: Carly Panchura, of Los Angeles CA, Mark Panchura, of Baltimore, MD and Meghan Bydlon Kinnear, of Richmond, VA, and one great granddaughter, Chloe Pearl Kinnear, of Richmond, VA.
