Saturday, Aug. 27, 1994 The Lima News 1 hurt on ride LE SOURDSVILLE (AP) Two adults and two children were sent to the hospital as a precaution after a bolt broke on a roller coaster car on which they were riding, officials said. The car was the first car of a three car children's roller coaster. One woman complained of a sore neck, but the other three people appeared unhurt when the car moved forward about 8 feet before stopping, said Len Gottstein, owner of the Americana amusem*nt park in southwest Ohio. On Aug. 19, 1947, he married Hannah A. Coppler, who died Feb. 1, 1990. Mr.

Miller Miller was a general laborer for Town and Country Tree Service. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. Geiermann, who survives. Mr. Harlett was an examiner for the Ohio Bureau of Inspection and Supervision of Public Office for 46 years. He also was an avid gardener. Other survivors include a son, John C.

and Maude Mae Waggoner Battles. On' June 15, 1940, she married Clarence "Chick" Rowland, who died April 20, 1993. Mrs. Rowland was a homemaker. She was a member of the Salvation Army and attended Lima Central High School.

Survivors, include a son, Bob (Kathy) Rowland; four daughters, "Laura J. Aug. 1994, at her home. She was born March 5, to David and Patricia Snook. On Nov. 14, Nienberg 1987, she married Kenneth A.

Nienberg, who survives. Mrs. Nienberg was a teacher at Bluffton Exempted Schools. She was a member of the Kappa Pi Chapter at Ohio Northern University, a 1977 graduate of Riverdale High School, a 1981 cum laude graduate of ONU and a 1987 summa cum laude master's degree graduate from Bowling Green State University. Cory PAUL H. RANKIN, 74, died Aug. 25, 1994, at his home. He was born April 24, 1920, in Findlay to John and Marie Roeder Rankin. On June 7, 1941, he married Helen M.

Hartman, who died June 28, 1989. Mr. Rankin was. a tool and die maker at in Lima. He' was a veteran of World War II.

NOTABLE DEATHS EDWIN CHILLINGWORTH, slack-key guitarist Edwin "Sonny" Chillingworth, who formerly performed with singer Don Ho, died of cancer Wednesday in Honolulu. He was 62. Chillingworth backed Ho in the singer's early days. His most recent album, titled "Sonny Solo," was released this year. EDNA BASTEN DONALD, 65, a former national Republican committeewoman, died Tuesday in Grand Island, Neb.

The longtime Republican volunteer. was a national committeewoman from 1943 to 1964. She also was a member of the first White House Committee for the Elderly. KENNETH F. ZWICKER, 74, an assistant publisher at The Keene Sentinel for 26 years, died Wednesday after a long illness in Keene, N.H.

Zwicker worked at the Ellsworth (Maine) American in 1949. He then became city editor and later 'managing editor of the Bangor Evening and Sunday Commercial until it closed in 1954. He came to the Sentinel after. briefly working for two suburban papers in New Jersey. 'He retired In 1981.

35, 25, 1959, Clinger Bluffton REV. PAUL A. ADAMS, 97, died Aug. 26, 1994, in the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. to He was born June 4, 1897, in Lima to Harold and Julia Ackerman Adams.

On June 18, 1922, he, married Faery B. Huber, who died July 17, 1982. The Rev. Adams was a graduate Lima High School. He attended Bluffton College and Capital University.

He also attended the Theological Seminary of Capital University. He was ordained June 18, 1922, into the ministry of the Lutheran Joint Synod of Ohio. He served on several committees of the American Lutheran Church, including vice president of the Eastern District, president of the Augustana Conference and on the Youngstown Local Conference. He was a member and president of the Lima Torch Club and a member of the Bluffton Lions Club since 1963, serving as chaplain for both. He also donated to several local groups, including the Adams Bridge at Bluffton College and the gold cross on the steeple of the Bluffton Lutheran Church.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. The Revs. Dennis Maurer and Paul Gruetter will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.

Aug. 26, 1994, at the St. Marys Living Center, St. Marys. He was born Jan.

30, 1906, in St. Paul, to Williams H. and Lettie Searles McBride. On Aug. 17, 1928, he married Nancy Shuffelton, who died Nov.

3, 1991. Mr. McBride was a philanthropist, businessman, civic leader and resort developer in Hilton Head, S.C. He also was a 1924 graduate of Lakewood High School and a 1928 graduate of Miami University, Oxford. He was a Sigma Nu fraternity member, a member Mercer Lodge 121 the Scottish Rite, Valley Dayton, Rotary clubs in Wheeling, W.Va., and Columbia, Savannah Yacht Club, Savannah, a founding member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Hilton Head, S.C.

and president of the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce in 1963. He was also a lifetime member of the Hilton Head Historical Society, served on the boards for the deacons and elders, treasurer and pulpit committee member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head and was a member of the Wayne Street Methodist Church in St. Marys. Survivors include a son, James McBride of Seattle; two daughters, Cynthia (Paul) Swanson of Kalabash, N.C. and Nancy (Carl) Gebhardt of Hilton Head, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald McBride; and a brother, Donald McBride. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. The Rev.

Lima LLOYD BAYES, 56, died at p.m. Aug. 25, 1994, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1938, in Salyersville, to Beatrice Rice, who survives.

Mr. Bayes was a heavy equipment operator for Lima Iron Metal. Survivors include four sons', Ricky, Gary and Terry Bayes, all of Lima, and Gregory Lloyd Bayes of Dayton; two daughters, Nicole and Josephine Bayes, both of Lima; 10 grandchildren; and a close friend, Lucy Johnson. preceded in death by a brother, Henry Bayes.
