.1 I 4 THE STANLY NEWS PRESS, Albemarle, N.C., Thursday, February 13, 1997 Millingport news By Karen Lowder MILLINGPORT The members of Circle No. 3 of Salem Church United Methodist Women met in the home of Sarah Sides on Feb. 10. Esther Bryson was co-hostess with Mrs. Sides.

Mrs. Roxie Eudy called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Sarah had the program, which was called "You Gotta Have Heart." It was taken from the January 1997 Response. Scripture was taken from Ephesians 3: 13-19. Sarah closed the program with a reading, "Rescue At Sea." Mrs.

Eudy presided during the business. The group made final plans for their bake sale. They discussed different mission projects. The meeting closed with the circle benediction. The hostesses served valentine refreshments.

Announcements Circle No. 3 of Salem United Methodist Church will have its annual take-home dessert bake sale. The sale will be on Feb. 16 at 9:15 a.m. at the church hut.

Millingport Extension Homemakers wiil meet Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Ora Hatley's home. Everyone is asked to bring her favorite salad dish. Circle No.

1 of Salem Church United Methodist Women will meet at Donna Hatley's Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. The Millingport School vs. Students has- Karen Lowder ketball game will be Feb. 28.

Come on out and see the women. and the men play. It starts at 6 p.m. Pizza and goodies will be served. Personals Johnny and Roxie Eudy had as their guests Sunday Jean and James (Koot) Whitesides of Greenville, S.C.

Hoyle, Sadine and Rita Page of Florida spent several days last week with Esther Bryson and Frank and Larvene Eury. Jo Anne Hainline returned Sunday from London, England. She spent two weeks working over there. Dot and Karen Lowder and Noella Zapisek attended the Vienna Boys Choir concert in Salisbury last Thursday night. The family of Bob Lowder would like to thank their many friends for all their kindnesses shown to them during their recent loss.

Ridgecrest news By Mrs. Willard Tucker RIDGECREST A special thanks to the Boy Scouts and their leaders for sharing a part of their work with the Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church congregation on Sunday. 1. Rev. Young's sermon was entitled "Love Has A Selective Mem.ory, Part and his scripture was Proverbs 10: 12, Matthew 5: 7-9 and Matthew 5: 38-48.

You are reminded of the Wednesday night meal on Feb. 19, beginning at 6:30 at the Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church fellowship building. The choir is trying to raise money for new choir robe collars, and they are planning a baked potato and salad bar meal. Donations will be accepted from! those who attend. 'Please let them' know if you plan to come out and eat.

Also, the Valentine Kings and Queens will be crowned at this meeting. Grover and Nada Furr will represent the older adult Sunday School Class. The Ridgecrest Cub Scouts will be going to see the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday. The Senior Citizens of the Ridgecrest Fire District will be entertained at their February meeting Friday, Feb. 28, by the Lawrence Barbee Band.

Jack Michel of Lake Norman. Mrs. Dessie McLester and Mrs. Connie Lambert visited Mrs. Bertie Lee Ritchie on Sunday afternoon.

Jim Eudy is home from Stanly Memorial Hospital and is doing much better. Continue to remember him in your prayers. Mrs. Elma Lambert had the misfortune of falling and breaking a rib. Please remember her in your prayers.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Lambert and children and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Teeter and children spent the weekend at the beach recently.
