Description Driver/Maintenance Worker Description: Provide a wide range of maintenance services including painting, landscaping, minor carpentry and plumbing projects, and snow removal. Provides transportation for patients to and from the hospital as assigned. Provides transportation of hospital documents and any other transportation needs as assigned by his/her supervisor.

Incumbent performs duties in accordance with corporate, organization and department policies and procedures while adhering to the overall mission of Bournewood Health Systems.

Job DescriptionEssential Functions:Receives assignments from the Director of Support Services or Maintenance Supervisor.

Performs all assigned work and advises Director of Support Services or Maintenance Supervisor of results.

Picks up supplies and equipment using hospital vehicles.

Picks up patients from assigned locations to bring to hospital as assigned

• Transports patients to medical facilities as needed, continuum of care programs and home.
• Transports records, supplies, legal documents to assigned locations.
• Performs additional transportation needs as assigned by his/her supervisor

Performs all assigned preventive maintenance duties.

Shares 24 hour on-call duties as needed.

Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff; adheres to hospital safety policies and procedures; reports any potential safety hazards to the Director of Support Services.

Demonstrates a caring, professional attitude and behavior towards patients, visitors, staff and referral sources.

Complies with all hospital policies and procedures including but not limited to patient confidentiality; participates in mandatory annual training.

Performs related work as directed.

Essential Competencies:

Specialty Skills: Must be able to prep surfaces, including patching and plastering of walls and trim work, for the purpose of providing a high quality painting project.

Machines: Dollies, power tools,, hospital vehicle, lawn equipment.

Tools: Screw drivers, hammer, hand saw, wrenches, painting, equipment, ladders, lawn tools painting tools.

Materials: Paint, mops, cleaning materials and products, grease and oil, insect sprays, fire extinguishes, read blue prints.

Knowledge of HVAC and plumbing.

Minimum Qualifications:High school level reading, writing and mathematic skills; legible handwriting; ability to concentrate on task in high traffic area; ability to keep information highly confidential; able to meet deadlines and set priorities; skills in dealing courteously with the public and with patients within the hospital; ability to work with minimum supervision; general experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing and air conditioning with experience in repairs and maintenance; understanding that safety is as important as well as job completion; flexibility; ability to work closely with patients and staff in a caring and supportive style. Valid driver license preferred.

Physical Criteria:Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and the like using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.

Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction.

Standing: Particularly for extended periods of time.

Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or upward.

Repetition: Substantial repetitive motion of the wrist, hands, fingers or other body parts.
