At what point do you make a spore print?

Just a quick question on making spore prints for your own syringes. When do you cut the top off of a mushroom so you collect the spores before they have fell out of the gills underneath? I have never done this but would like to try it with some success but I want to get the timing right.
Any advice or tips on when to cut the top off would be great 👌🍄

Pro tip: get a pair of precision hobby scissors. Makes cutting the cap from the stem (stipe) so much easier.

Also check out some spore printing Teks. Theres a couple good ones in the forums.
